Civil Defense sirens accidently triggered, no emergency Friday night (July 8)

At about 9:50 p.m. Friday (July 8) Civil Defense sirens were accidently sounded on Hawaii Island. There is NO emergency.

Reports from people island-wide came in from people hearing the sirens sounding.

When hearing a siren the public is advised to tune into local media via the internet, radio or television stations for emergency information and instructions broadcast by civil defense agencies. Participating media agencies will carry a detailed explanation of what the sirens mean, as well as other related information.
