Woman found in stolen truck faces 13 charges

A Kona woman found in a stolen truck now faces 13 charges.

On Monday (July 4), Kona Patrol officers responded to a report that a 2006 Nissan Frontier pickup truck had been removed from a business on the 73-4100 block of Hulikoa Drive in Kailua-Kona sometime between Sunday afternoon (July 3) and Monday morning.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, an employee of the business reported that he had located the stolen truck and detained a woman seated in the vehicle, which was parked in the Kealakehe subdivision.

Responding officers arrested the woman, 32-year-old Ashley Pagan of Kailua-Kona, and charged her with violating terms of probation. She was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation into the stolen truck. During the investigation, officers recovered a smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue from Pagan’s possession and mail belonging to other persons from the truck.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Pagan was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, theft and eight counts of unauthorized possession of personal information. Her bail on all counts, including the probation violation, was set at $116,000.

She remained at the cellblock until her court appearance on Thursday.
