Police are investigating a robbery in Hilo

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a robbery Monday morning (May 2) in Hilo.

At 6:15 a.m., a 27-year-old Hilo man was assaulted near the corner of Keawe Street and Haili Street and his wallet and cell phone were taken.

The suspect is described as a local male, about 5-foot-10, 125-130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a yellow T-shirt.

The victim declined treatment for his injuries.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
