Police investigate theft of tools and equipment in Kalopa

Hawaiʻi island police are investigating a theft over the weekend from agricultural land along the Hāmākua coast.

Sometime between 1:30 p.m. Friday (December 11) and 7:30 a.m. Monday (December 14), $15,000 worth of tools and equipment, including two Honda generators, was stolen from land along Hawaiʻi Belt Highway (Route 19) at the 38-mile marker in the Kalōpā area.

Police ask anyone with information about this case or the location of the equipment to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID.
