Police seek to identify attempted burglary suspects

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two adults wanted in connection with an attempted burglary investigation in Hilo.

At about 7:45 a.m. Friday (November 27) an unknown man and woman attempted to enter a home on the 800 block of Kūkūau Street in the Sunrise Estates subdivision. The suspect’s images were captured on surveillance video.

The man was wearing a black T-shirt, light brown shorts and white shoes. The lower half of his left leg appears to be tattooed.

The woman was wearing a red-and-white blouse with a dark design, blue jeans and a cowboy-type hat.

Police ask anyone with information about this case or the identity of the persons in the photos to call Officer Matthew Lewis at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island wide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID.
