Wailuku River swimmer still missing after three days of searching

Rescue crews spent a third day searching for a 62-year-old woman swept away while swimming in the Boiling Pots area of the Wailuku River.

Searchers began at daybreak on Wednesday (Sept 16) searching the river and river banks by land and air. Searchers in the water were only able to search river eddies near the woman’s last seen position in the river where she fell off an inflatable tube and wasn’t able to make it to the river bank. Crews searched until nightfall without results.

The search will resume at daybreak Thursday morning (Sept 17).
