Police DUI stats for the week of January 26-February 1, 2015

During the week of January 26, 2015, through February 1, 2015, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 11 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Three of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. Two were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 86 DUI arrests compared with 122 during the same period last year, a decrease of 29.5 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 88 major accidents so far this year compared with 135 during the same period last year, a decrease of 34.8 percent.

So far this year, there has been one traffic fatality on Hawaiʻi Island compared with three during the same period last year, a decrease of 66.7 percent.

To date, zero fatalities were related to drugs, alcohol or a combination of both.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
