Siren test in Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa Wednesday (Jan 14)

The State Civil Defense in partnership with the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency will be conducting a test of the following warning sirens tomorrow Wednesday January 14th between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.:

  • Kailua Kona in the area of the Kuakini Highway and Walua Road intersection
  • Waikoloa Beach Drive and Resort areas (two sirens)

These tests are to confirm the proper operation of newly installed equipment.

Residents in these areas may hear the siren sound multiple times during 30 second to 1 minute intervals. Testing will also include checks of the public address system and short blasts of the siren.

The public is reminded that the monthly siren test will be conducted as planned on the first working day of each month. The public is reminded to monitor local radio broadcasts with siren soundings to receive additional information on the siren system activation.
