Arrested woman is released pending investigation in vehicle theft which led to shooting

A 33 year-old Mountain View woman has been released from police custody after being arrested for suspicion of attempted murder and theft of a vehicle, in connection with an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday (December 16, 2014) in the Puna District.

Ashley Brooks De Morales was released today at 11:00 a.m., pending further investigation.

Police continue to ask anyone who may have witnessed either the theft of the pickup truck from the Prince Kuhio Plaza or the shooting incident on Route 11 near the Kulani Road intersection to call Detective Grant Todd at 961-2385 or email at gtodd@co.hawaii.hi.us.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide CrimeStoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
