Teen still missing after Hapuna cliff jumping at Hapuna

A teenager remained missing late Monday after jumping Sunday from a cliff at Hapuna Beach Park.

The 13-year-old boy, wearing a black shirt and tan shorts, with friends when he reportedly jumped off a 15-foot cliff and never resurfaced.

At 10:21 a.m. Sunday, county fire crews notified the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center of the missing boy. HFD and the Coast Guard conducted searches throughout Sunday and again Monday.

County Fire Department personnel conducted searches in the water with dive teams, as well as shoreline and aerial searches.

The Coast Guard sent a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point.

In addition, the Coast Guard’s Cutter Kiska, a 110-foot Island class patrol boat ported in Hilo, joined the search.

The boy’s name has not been released.
