A stolen vehicle has led to the arrest of a Puna man for multiple charges.

Early Wednesday morning (December 3), a 38-year old Hilo woman reported that her 1992 Honda Accord had been removed from the parking lot of the Prince Kuhio Plaza parking lot.

Puna Patrol officers located and arrested 24-year old Daesyn Pacheco-Muragin of Kurtistown and recovered the stolen vehicle.

At the same time, Daesyn was arrested in connection with other unrelated cases, including three counts of contempt of court. He was held at the Hilo Police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued their investigations. He went to court Thursday (December 4) on the contempt charges and then was returned to the police cellblock.

At 5:42 p.m. Thursday, after conferring with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, detectives charged Daesyn with second-degree theft, first-degree terroristic threatening, abuse of a family/household member, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts each of promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $15,250.

He was released into the custody of Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center pending his initial court appearance for those charges scheduled for Friday (December 5).

Pacheco-Muragin is being featured on an episode of “Hawaii Island’s Most Wanted,” which was prerecorded before his arrest.
