Kona woman attacked by shark in North Kohala Friday (Oct 31)

A 34-year-old Kailua-Kona woman was attacked by a shark while surfing at Halaula Lighthouse in North Kohala. At 11:12 a.m. Friday (October 31), police received a report that the victim was en route to North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital with injuries to two fingers.

Army officials are opening several training areas for bird hunting, here, Nov. 1-2, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Training areas 1, 2, 10, 11 and the Keamuku Training Area will be open for shotgun hunting of birds only. Use of shotgun slugs is not permitted.

As of 8 a.m. Thursday (Oct 30) the lava flow has advanced to about 160 yards of Pahoa Village Road. The flow advancement has been averaging less than five yards per hour.
