Kick off Energy Action Month at clean energy fair (Sept. 27)

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Electric Light’s Clean Energy Fair is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at Prince Kuhio Plaza.

The fair kicks off Energy Action Month in October to celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of businesses and organizations who are paving the way for a sustainable, clean energy future for Hawaii.

The Clean Energy Fair brings together organizations and businesses involved in resource conservation, energy efficiency, and clean energy initiatives.

This free family event features educational exhibits on clean energy, electric vehicles, energy programs, energy rebates, electrical safety, and emergency preparedness.

“The Clean Energy Fair gives our community the opportunity to learn about Hawaii Electric Light and connect with our employees, some of our community partners, and company energy experts,” said Virginia Aragon-Barnes, Educational Services Administrator.

The festivities open with a performance by Lori Lei’s Studio & Halau Waiohinu.

At 11 a.m., participants can play our Clean Energy Jeopardy game for a chance to win prizes.

At noon, enjoy the Waiakea Intermediate School Ukulele band, followed by a special performance by the talented artist and musician Lito Arkangel at 1 p.m.

Energy games and fun contests will be held between performances. To enter the drawings and to play Clean Energy Jeopardy, pick up an Energy Passport at the registration table, visit participating booths for a stamp — including the electric vehicle display — and drop the completed passport in the entry box at the registration table.

Interactive exhibits by Pacific Biodiesel, Keiki IDs by the County of Hawaii Prosecutor’s Office, Puna Geothermal Venture-Oromat Technology, and Hawaii’s EV Association round out the event.
