Kanuha joins NACo ag committee

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii County Council Member Dru Kanuha joined the nation’s leadership ranks with his nomination to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee of the National Association of Counties confirmed by NACo President Riki Hokama in a letter dated Aug. 26.

NACo’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering committee members play a critical role in advancing legislative and policy priorities important to the nation’s counties.

The committee will address all matters pertaining to legislation and administrative actions affecting agriculture, rural development programs, rural renewable energy development, research and extension, food safety, and USDA conservation programs.

“I am honored and appreciative for the opportunity to be a committee member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee. I look forward to working with the committee members to address the various agriculture and rural affairs for not only Hawaii but the entire nation,” Kanuha said. “I want to also thank NACo President Riki Hokama and Hawaii State Association of Counties (HSAC) President Mel Rapozo on recognizing that this is a very important issue to Hawaii and for their confidence in me to be a part of this committee.”
