The USTA Hawaii Pacific Adult 55 & Over League Championships were held July 26-27 at the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park in Honolulu.

Three teams from the Big Island advanced to the national championships after winning their section championships. Two of the women’s teams play out of the Mauna Kea’s Seaside Tennis Club.

The section’s top teams battled it out in the sunny summer heat of Honolulu for a weekend of tennis. Nearly a quarter of the matches were taken to third set tiebreakers and there were many close two set victories before the champions were crowned.

Oahu took home the 6.0 Women’s and 7.0 Men’s Divisions while West Hawaii teams went undefeated in their flights to take home the Women’s 7.0 and Women’s 8.0 titles.

Closing out the weekend of tennis was East Hawaii’s Men’s 8.0 team who went 4-0 to earn themselves a glass ball title.

The section champions head to Surprise, Arizona for the national tournament. Levels 6.0 and 8.0 play Oct. 31-Nov. 2, while Levels 7.0 and 9.0 play Nov. 7-9.
