Police locate a Hilo man reported missing

Hawaiʻi Island police have located 18-year-old Sterling Shackley of Hilo, who was reported missing.

He was found unharmed in Hilo at 6 p.m. Thursday (May 1).

Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for an 18-year-old Hilo man who was reported missing.

Sterling Shackley was last seen in Hilo at 5 a.m. Thursday (May 1). He has a medical condition that requires medication, and his family is concerned for his safety.

He is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-6, 160 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of a shark on his left shoulder.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID.
