A lava lake within HalemaÊ»umaÊ»u produced nighttime glow that was visible via HVO’s Webcam during the past week. The lava level was fairly steady over the past week, and was 40 to 45 m (130 and 150 ft) below the rim of the Overlook crater.

On KÄ«lauea’s East Rift Zone, the KahaualeÊ»a 2 flow continued to be active northeast of PuÊ»u ʻŌʻō. This week the active flow front was 8.0 km (5 miles) northeast of the vent on PuÊ»u ʻŌʻō. Webcam images indicate that small forest fires are continuing.

One earthquake was reported felt on the Island of Hawai‘i in the past week. A magnitude-3.5 earthquake occurred on Sunday, March 9, 2014, and was located 4.9 km (3 mi) southwest of Volcano Village at a depth of 2.8 km (1.7 mi).
