Crews to resume searching for missing swimmer in Waipio Valley Bay Friday (May 17)

Rescue crews and the U.S. Coast Guard completed another day of searching for a missing swimmer in Waipio Valley Bay Thursday (May 16).

The swimmer, 62-year-old Kevin Devlin, also known as Shawn Devlin, of Honokaa was last seen swimming at 6:30 p.m. Monday (May 13) in Waipio Valley Bay and has not been seen since.

The fire department’s Chopper One conducted an aerial search of the shoreline and up to one mile off shore from Laupahoehoe Nui to Pololu Valley. Rescue divers conducted searches between Waialeale and Hapuu Bay without results. A shoreline ground search in Waipio Valley was conducted across the beach area. Crews plan on resuming their search Friday (May 17).

Devlin is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with short, thin white hair.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call Officer Dion Santiago at 775-7533 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
