Mooheau Bus Terminal resurfacing (March 7)

Work begins Thursday, March 7 by the Department of Public Works Highway Maintenance Division to prepare Mooheau Bus Terminal, and parking lot, in Downtown Hilo for resurfacing next week.

Sections of the parking lot will be closed, and no parking allowed starting midnight March 6. The parking lot will reopen after 5 p.m. Friday, March 8.

Mooheau Bus Terminal will remain open for Hele-On passengers during this time.

Resurfacing the entrance of Mooheau Bus Terminal is Monday, March 11. No vehicle traffic allowed in to the bus terminal after 7 a.m. Pedestrian access will be limited.

The entrance to the terminal reopens at 5 p.m.

Hele-On passengers traveling between Monday, March 11 and Friday, March 15 will board buses at the bus shelter next to the park and ride lot on Kamehameha Avenue.

The Highway Maintenance Division will close Mooheau Bus Terminal parking lot for resurfacing, midnight Sunday to Tuesday, March 12, weather permitting. The parking lot will reopen Tuesday after 5 p.m.

The Highway Maintenance Division may resume resurfacing the parking lot Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15.

The Traffic Division of Public Works is scheduling to stripe the parking stalls on a Sunday two weeks after resurfacing is completed.

The two-week wait allows the asphalt to cure before marking the pavement.
