HI-PAL Spring basketball league announced

MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaiʻi Police Activities League (HI-PAL) will once again be holding their Boys and Girls Spring Basketball League. A new aspect of this league will be the addition of an Elementary School Division. This league will be for Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth graders, (Elementary Division), and Seventh and Eight graders, (Intermediate Division). Participants will only be allowed to play in one division and not move within divisions, (ex: sixth grader moving up to seventh grade for several games then moving back down to sixth grade).

Teams are formed within the interested student’s elementary and intermediate schools from Hāmākua to Puna and will compete against other participating schools. All participants must represent the schools they attend. Registration has begun at several elementary and intermediate schools.

League play will commence on March 5, 2013 and conclude on May, 21, 2013.

Games will be played on Tuesday nights at Pāpaʻikou Gym and Friday nights at Andrews Gym. A schedule with the different dates, times, and locations will be provided prior to the start of this league. A coaches meeting will be held prior to the start of the league.

All interested coaches are encouraged to contact Officer Joseph Botelho at 961-2220 or the Community Policing Office at 961-8121 for registration packet pick-up and to provide the necessary information for participation.
