Did you know that February is National Children’s Dental Health Month? Healthy teeth are a part of the healthy lifestyle promoted by the mission and curriculum at Hualalai Academy.

Janelle Bays, of Kona Coast Dental Care, came into the kindergarten and first grade class to demonstrate healthy habits and to talk to kids about their teeth.

She told them to make sure they brushed everyday, flossed once a day and rinsed with mouthwash too.

When she asked students how long to brush their teeth for, one student shared, “Say your ABC’s” and another said, “Sing happy birthday!”

Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. NCDHM messages and materials have reached millions of people in communities across the country.

Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
