Hilo recreation office to close for fumigation January 29-30, 2013

MEDIA RELEASE

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Parks and Recreation announces the temporary closure of its Recreation Office located within Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Lū‘au Hale at 799 Pi‘ilani St. in Hilo.

The office will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 29, and again on Wednesday, Jan. 30, so the building may be fumigated to remove termites.

During the two-day closure, Recreation staff will be unable to issue permits for pavilion use at Mohouli Park, University Heights Park or ‘Āinaola Park, each of which is located in Hilo. Also, reservations will not be accepted for use of Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Lū‘au Hale, the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium, Dr. Frances F.C. Wong Stadium or the Walter C.K. Victor Baseball Complex.

Normal operations will resume at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.

The Department of Parks and Recreation apologizes for any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and thanks the public for its understanding while the maintenance work is being performed.
