High surf advisory for West Hawaii, 6-9 foot surf forecast

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for West facing shores of the Big Island until 6 p.m. this evening.

Surf is forecast to be in the six to nine foot range for the Kona-Kohala coast.

The large breaking waves will cause hazardous conditions in the surf zone and shore breaks. Beachgoers should stay out of the water due to hazardous wave action and dangerous rip currents.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday (Jan 3) for all Hawaiian waters.
