Fire/rescue crews answered a 1:34 p.m. alarm to Papaaloa in the Laupahoehoe area to search for a missing person.

The fire department’s Chopper 1 spotted the missing person’s car in a river. Rescue crews found the body of the driver about 100 yards downstream of the car.

The body was airlifted out and turned over to police. The cause of death was not reported by fire dispatch reports.
