Wind and surf advisories for the Big Island

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for the areas near Upolu Point, South Point, Waikoloa to Waimea and the Saddle Road area on the Big Island from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday (Dec 12).

Strong Northeast winds are forecast to be 20-35 mph with localized gusts of over 45 mph. These strong winds can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists should use caution while driving.

A high surf advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday (Dec 13) for Big Island South, North and East shores. A small craft advisory is also in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for all Hawaiian waters.
