MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association gave Disabled Adventures Hawaii top honors for their outstanding participation in the 2012 Charity Walk.

Director Jean Hartley and board member Enock Friere accepted a check from Mayor Billy Kenoi at an award ceremony July 18.

Disabled Adventures serves locals and visitors with limited mobility with information about adaptive sports and accessible facilities on the Big Island.

“This generous gift gives us the opportunity to create a much-needed booklet, Access Hawaii,” Hartley said. “The on-line booklet will feature maps, photos and details about safe and accessible beaches and visitor sites, sidewalks and parking.”

Hard copies of Access Hawaii will be available for cruise ship visitors and hotel guests.

The 2012 Charity Walk fund-raiser yielded over $194,000 which was distributed to 45 charitable organizations to benefit Big Island families.
