Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa, will be home base July 20 and July 21 for anyone on a quest to learn more about cacao and make their own chocolate during a Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Making Class.

The one day class on either Friday, July 20 or Saturday, July 21 will run from 9:30am until 4:00pm. Class will be hosted by Honolulu’s Madre Chocolate cofounder and self-proclaimed Chocolate Flavormeister Dr. Nat Bletter. Each day will begin with a visit to Kuaiwi Farm, a local cacao farm, to source the odd looking fruit that becomes delectable chocolate. Attendees will return to Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa where they will make their own bar of chocolate.
Dr. Bletter has 15 years of experience in botany, documenting exotic fruits and vegetables, gathering food in the wild, herbal and traditional medicine, and exploring Asia, South America, Central America, and Africa. He has a Ph.D. in Ethnobotany and he has researched medicinal plants of Peru, Mali, and the Guatemalan Mayans. Taste-modifying plants and stimulant plants such as cacao, spurred him to start Madre Chocolate, a traditional-ingredient, high-antioxidant, artisinal chocolate company.
