MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii State Senate has presented the honorable U. S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka with a Certificate of Recognition for being selected as a recipient of the Harry S. Truman Award.

The Harry S. Truman Award is the highest recognition given to a lawmaker by the National Guard Association of the United States.

As a current member of the Armed Forces Committee and Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support, Akaka has continued to serve as a champion of our men and women in uniform, veterans, and their families, and to work to ensure the Active, Guard, and Reserve forces have the equipment and training necessary to achieve their missions,” said Sen. Donna Mercado Kim, who presented Akaka with the Certificate of Recognition.
