Kona Community Aquatic Center closes due to fecal matter in water

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

The Kona Community Aquatic Center closed on Sunday (March 25) after fecal matter was discovered in the pool. Victor McDaniel, District Supervisor for Parks and Recreation, said due to the Kuhio Day state holiday the pool was closed not scheduled to be open on Monday and remains closed today after a mechanical problem prevented the pool from bringing the water to the safety standard for operation.

McDaniel said, ‘the pool will re-open tomorrow (March 28) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.’ after the system restores the water quality.
