Structure fire damages Waimea home Friday (Feb 3)

Firefighters responded to a 8:26 p.m. alarm Friday (Feb. 3) to a structure fire on Kipahele Street in Waimea. Nobody was home at the time of the fire.

The fire reportedly started on the back lanai the spread to a storage shed, bathroom, back bedroom and attic space on the back of a home.

Crews had the fire under control about 5 minutes after arriving with the fire declared out one hour later.

Damage is estimated to be $140,000 with $330,000 of the residence saved from the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
