Three speakers at KLRC meeting (Aug. 7)

* Kawaihae Local Resource Council meets 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7

Note from Tommie Sugunama at Rep. Cindy Evans office indicates The State Redistricting Council will be sending someone to update current efforts. This adds a third speaker to Sunday’s presentation.

Washington State University graduate student Tony Spitzback will review recent experiments involving small fish exclusion cages conducted off the Kona coast.

Jeff Hood, Harbors District Manager for the state Department of Transportation will present an update on various plans in the works for Kawaihae Harbor, including the by-pass road project and harbor expansion.

In addition, Sara Peck will be in attendance for her last council meeting before she leaves for the mainland.

KLRC meets at the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Factory. Turn mauka from Akoni Pule Highway and follow the yellow signs to the Visitors Center.

KLRC meetings are hosted by Kailapa Community Association, a not for profit corporation representing more than 120 families residing on Hawaiian Homelands, Kawaihae Mauka.

    Is there a favored or chosen route yet? Is there a place to find this out? It seems difficult to get an answer on this.
