MEDIA RELEASE

The Shops at Mauna Lani invites everyone to join its Fifth Birthday Celebration, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 12.

Center Stage will come alive with song and dance while keiki enjoy balloons, several party bouncers and even a giant birthday cake.

The Shops at Mauna Lani’s first stores opened in June 2006 and quickly established itself as a shopping destination on the Kohala Coast. Its three great restaurants — Monstera Noodles/Sushi, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar — are now local and visitor favorites; and the many national and Hawaiian shops offer something for everyone.

The fun for the Birthday Celebration begins at 1 p.m. with Te Ea o Te Turama Polynesian dancers; followed at 2 p.m. by Arneleo the Hawaiian Magician; at 3 p.m. “Tava & Friends” Hawaiian trio; and at 4 p.m. the Pomai Brown Ohana.

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the whole family can enjoy party bouncers, airbrush tattoos, coconut weaving/husking, lei making, hula lessons, ipu and umeke making along with free balloons, cotton candy, popcorn and shave ice Hawaiian style.

“The icing on the cake will be the piano colada birthday cake baked fresh from the Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar ovens,” said Debbie Parmley, vice president. “We will all sing happy birthday and blow out the candles and of course enjoy that luscious dessert.”
