Big Isle athletes honored at state tournaments

SOFTBALL

Two Honokaa softball players have been named to the Division II All-Tournament Team following last week’s state tournament.

Outfielder Jacielyn Huddy-Mendoza and utility player Hailey Paglinawan were among the 14 players honored, while Sofia Luczac of Pac-Five was named most valuable player.

Honokaa was defeated 10-6 in the first round of play by St. Francis, but rallied to beat Hana, 15-2, in the consolation bracket before the remainder of the games were cancelled due to bad weather.

The All-Tournament Team was selected by HHSAA staff.
