Winter weather advisory for Big Island summits until Saturday (May 7)

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a winter weather advisory for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa until 9 a.m. Saturday (May 7).

Sleet and snow are possible on the summits will cause difficult driving conditions on roadways.

As of 8:30 a.m. the Mauna Kea Access Road is open to the public but visitors are advised that conditions are foggy, cold and windy with temperatures below freezing.
