Napau wildfire sparked by Kamoamoa Fissure Eruption continues to grow

Robin Wills, Napau Fire Incident Commander said,

….that fire managers are still in a planning stage to determine fire resources needs, measure firefighter risk to value, and determine probability and measures of success of operations in terms of costs and efforts.

Pahala residents reported smoke and odors Wednesday from the fire, which is being blown southwest toward Holei Pali and is scorching uluhe fern and ohia.

Park firefighters have held the blaze east and north of Chain of Craters Road, which remains closed.
