Possible drowning at Puu Maile

MEDIA RELEASE

A man apparently drowned Monday afternoon off Puu Maile near Waiakea.

Emergency crews were called at 1:25 p.m. to the shoreline fronting Puu Maile and bystanders pointed out the last place they had seen the man, who was waving for help.

The county rescue helicopter was able to locate and crews retrieved the man from the bottom of the ocean.

Resuscitation efforts on scene failed.
