Author, illustrator reception at UH-Hilo (Nov. 23)

MEDIA RELEASE

The public is invited to attend a reception for the author and illustrator of “Hamakua Hero: A True Plantation Story.”

This is the true story, in manga style, of Katsu Goto who worked, lived, and died in Honokaa.

Author Patsy Iwasaki, is a faculty member at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She will be talking about Katsu Goto and how she came to write and publish his story. She will also read excerpts from the book.

The illustrator, Avery Berido, is a student at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He plans to deliver a short illustration demonstration.

The reception is noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 in Kilohana, The Academic Success Center. Kilohana is located on the lower level of the library, just past the elevator.
