Founder and editor Baron Sekiya has accepted a contract with the Office of the Mayor. He will serve as multi-media development specialist to the mayor and his staff.

To avoid any conflict, Sekiya has stepped away from his role as editor at Hawaii 24/7 for the duration of the contract, although he retains the title of publisher. He will continue to offer technical support to the website and contribute photographs and videos.

Karin Stanton is now the sole editor of Hawaii 24/7.

Hawaii 24/7 has accepted no special favors, additional access or promises of favoritism from the Mayor’s Office, nor will it seek any. The website will continue to provide coverage of the Big Island community in the same fashion it has since it was founded in November 2008.
