MEDIA RELEASE
Leilani Ramsey broke into the starting line-up in a big way in leading the University of Hawaii at Hilo to 3-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific University in a Pacific West Conference match in Hilo.
Set scores were 25-23, 25-18, 25-17. The Vulcans are 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the PacWest while the Sea Warriors are 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Ramsey did it on both ends of the court with 13 kills on 28 attempts with only one error for a .429 attack percentage. On defense, she tallied 13 digs, two block assists and a solo block.
“She had a career night,” said UHH head coach Tino Reyes. “I’m not only talking about the hitting. Her all around game, serving, passing, playing defense, blocking…that was the best I’ve seen her play.
“That was really refreshing to me.”
Hillary Hurley added a match-high 16 kills for the Vulcans while Patty Vine picked up 14 digs as the libero.
