Fire/rescue units responded to a 12:20 alarm for a 47 year-old man who slipped off a trail near Piihonua Bridge and fell down a 30 foot embankment breaking both bones in his right leg.

Rescue team stabilized the patient who was then airlifted via the Fire Department’s Chopper One helicopter. The man was taken via medic unit to Hilo Medical Center for treatment.
