Governor releases funds for the University of Hawai’i Center at West Hawaii

Representative Cindy Evans, (District 7- North Kona, South Kohala), and Representative Denny Coffman, District 6 – North Kona, Keauhou, Kailua-Kona, Honokohau), received news today that Governor Lingle has released funds towards the building of the new University of Hawai’i Center at West Hawai’i. Monies will be used toward the paving of the roads on campus and project infrastructure.

“We are thrilled the monies are being released,” said Representative Evans. “It has been a vision of the West Hawai’i communities to have a community college made available on the west side.”

“I’m excited to see this project get a kick start,” added Representative Coffman. “The new college will provide opportunities for advanced education and training to the people of West Hawai’i.”

The project will also support the growing number of green alternative energy technologies that are being planned and developed in the community.
