The University of Hawaii at Hilo held on to a 68-65 victory over Dominican University in San Rafael, Calif. to remain perfect in the Pacific West Conference.
The Vulcans improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the PacWest while the Penguins are 3-10 overall and 0-2 in the PacWest.
“Winning three on the road is something we’ve never done,” UHH head coach Jeff Law said. “It was a very tough game. It was a typical game when you have three games on the road in a week. We didn’t have our legs and were skipping a beat mentally. We kept on plugging and fighting and we got it done.
“The guys are tired but it makes the flight over the water a little bit easier.
Bryan Ngo led the Vulcans with 23 points while Justin Smith turned in an 18-point, 10-rebound performance. Lavell Shipman added 11 points.
