WAIKOLOA  – Romano’s Macaroni Grill expanded its operations to the Big Island where its second Hawaii location opened Monday, Nov. 24 at Queens’ MarketPlace at Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Romano’s Macaroni Grill is known for its Tuscan-inspired, family-priced Italian menu, with an exhibition-style kitchen where chefs prepare an array of pasta entrees, antipasti and salads, brick oven pizzas, seafood, and seasonal features using the freshest ingredients. There also are extensive “to go” offerings.

“Both locals and visitors continue to demand greater variety in dining options,” said Randy Schoch, Hawaii franchisee for Romano’s Macaroni Grill. “We’re extremely fortunate that our restaurants have been embraced by the community.”

Schoch serves as the CEO of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Desert Islands Restaurants, a management entity that oversees operations of the five franchised Ruth’s Chris Steak Houses and two Romano’s Macaroni Grill restaurants in Hawaii. The company employs 450 throughout the Hawaiian Islands, and added 140 jobs with the opening of the Waikoloa grill.

Robert Keon has been named general manager. He previously worked at Ruth’s Chris Steak House at The Shops at Mauna Lani. Prior to that, he was general manager of the Cattle Company Steak House in Honolulu.
